What age can my child start cheerleading?

Columbus Power Elite offers programs for athletes as young as 3 years old through high school. We have options for beginners, experienced athletes, and everyone in between. Our goal is to provide a positive environment where athletes can build confidence, learn new skills, and make lasting friendships.

Do I need experience to join?

No. We welcome athletes of all experience levels. Whether your child is trying cheerleading for the first time or has years of experience, we have programs designed to help them grow and succeed.

Do you offer tumbling only?

Yes. Athletes do not have to be on a cheer team to participate in tumbling classes. We offer tumbling instruction for beginners through advanced athletes working on elite-level skills.

Where is Columbus Power Elite located?

Columbus Power Elite is located at 3655 N. National Road next to Napa. We proudly serve athletes from Columbus, Seymour, Greensburg, Franklin, Edinburgh, Hope, North Vernon, and surrounding communities.

 

ELITE TEAM FAQS

What is an elite all star cheer team?

Elite all star cheer teams are our most competitive teams. Athletes train throughout the season, develop advanced cheerleading skills, and compete at local, regional, and national events.

How many competitions do elite teams attend?

Competition schedules vary by team, but elite teams typically attend 6-8 events throughout the season, including local, regional, and travel competitions.

How many times per week do elite teams practice?

Elite teams practice twice each week and are expected to attend tumbling classes to continue developing individual skills.

Is tumbling included with elite cheer?

Yes. Team tuition includes one tumbling class each week, allowing athletes to build the skills needed for success on the competition floor.

Can beginners join an elite team?

Team placement is based on age, skill level, experience, and team needs. New athletes are always welcome and evaluated during placements to determine the best fit.

PREP TEAM FAQS

What is the difference between prep and elite cheer?

Prep teams provide a competitive cheer experience with fewer travel requirements, fewer competitions, and a lower overall time commitment than elite teams.

How much travel is required for prep teams?

Most prep competitions are within driving distance and do not require overnight travel, making prep a great option for busy families.

Do prep teams compete?

Yes. Prep teams attend competitions throughout the season and have the opportunity to perform, earn awards, and gain valuable competitive experience.

How many days per week do prep teams practice?

Prep teams practice one day each week and attend a weekly tumbling class.

Can athletes move from prep to elite?

Absolutely. Many athletes begin in prep and later transition to elite teams as their skills and experience develop.

NOVICE TEAM FAQS

What is novice cheerleading?

Novice cheerleading is designed for athletes who are new to all star cheer. It focuses on learning fundamental cheer skills while building confidence and teamwork.

Does my child need cheer experience?

No experience is required. Novice teams are specifically designed to introduce athletes to cheerleading in a fun and encouraging environment.

How many competitions do novice teams attend?

Novice teams attend a limited number of local events designed to provide a positive first competition experience.

What ages can join novice cheer?

Novice teams are available for a variety of age groups. Team placement is determined by age and experience.

Is tumbling required for novice athletes?

No. Tumbling is encouraged but not required. Athletes can participate regardless of their current tumbling ability.

TUMBLING FAQS

Do I need cheer experience to take tumbling classes?

No. Our tumbling classes are open to athletes of all backgrounds, including cheerleaders, gymnasts, dancers, and beginners.

What tumbling skills do you teach?

We teach skills ranging from forward rolls and cartwheels to back handsprings, tucks, layouts, and fulls, depending on the athlete's level.

Do you offer beginner tumbling classes?

Yes. We offer beginner classes designed to teach proper technique, body control, strength, and confidence.

How long does it take to get a back handspring?

Every athlete progresses at a different pace. Factors such as strength, flexibility, attendance, and consistency all play a role in skill development.

Can athletes take tumbling without joining a cheer team?

Yes. Many of our athletes participate in tumbling classes without being members of an all star cheer team.

CHEERABILITIES FAQS

What is CheerAbilities?

CheerAbilities is an adaptive cheerleading program designed for athletes with physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities.

Who can participate in CheerAbilities?

Athletes of various ages and ability levels are welcome to participate. The program focuses on inclusion, confidence, and fun.

Does CheerAbilities compete?

Our CheerAbilities athletes have opportunities to perform and participate in events throughout the season while celebrating their accomplishments.

Do athletes need cheer experience?

No. Prior cheer experience is not required. We welcome athletes of all experience levels.

How do I register for CheerAbilities?

BIRTHDAY PARTY FAQS

What is included in a birthday party?

Birthday parties include gym time and access to our cheer and tumbling facility for a fun and memorable celebration.

Can I bring my own food and cake?

Yes. Families are welcome to bring food, drinks, cake, and decorations for their event.

How many guests can attend?

Guest limits may vary depending on the party package selected. Contact us for current availability and options.

What activities are included?

Activities include open gym time and the use of equipment.
